But let him that glories glory in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, said the LORD.
Despite hardships in life, we rest in the wonderful, beautiful plans God has for us. And His best, most perfect plan is that those who are in Christ will share in the same glory as Christ himself. His sacrifice, and our acceptance of that sacrifice has hidden our sins, our failures, our weakness in Christ’s glory.
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Why should we hope for a share in Christ’s glory? Glory literally means “what evokes good opinion, i.e. that something has inherent, intrinsic worth” (J. Thayer), which means our worth and value will not be determined by our own merit, but by the fact that God the Father has bestowed worth on the Son. Christ has promised His own intrinsic worth to those who love him.
This month our focus is on the Glory of the Lord, and the hope we have in Him. It’s a call to understand and know Jesus, to rejoice in His Glory, to delight in Him as He delights in those who desire to know Him.
